Ventrilo Lag Issues with Windows 7
Quite a few people have been having problems with lag in Ventrilo (a voice-communications program often used for online gaming) after a Windows 7 upgrade.
Voice chat will appear to be working just fine, however after a few minutes you’ll notice that when you talk there are no immediate responses. After a few minutes more you hear all the previous dialog linked together in one big audio stream, like it lagged and tried to catch-up in fast-forward.
A few solutions to this have been mentioned, although some work on some computers and others don’t.
Set Ventrilo system process to above normal or high. Press ALT+CTRL+Del and bring up Task Manager, find Ventrilo in the Processes tab and right click. Choose “Set Priority” and select Above Normal or High. This only works if Ventrilo is running.
Add a shortcut to your desktop right click it, click properties, compatibility, activate “run this program as an administrator” AND “run this program in compatibility mode: Win XP Service Pack 3″
Choosing SFX settings with your hardware and direct sound and choosing left and right front speaker.
Did one of these work for you or maybe you have a solution of your own? Post it in the comments section below.
