The rogue TotalVirusProtection is the latest in a series of fraudulent programs offering protection but instead delivering dangerous and destructive spyware. Like other spyware, Total Virus Protection uses deceptive methods to attach itself to a system, often by downloading an audio or video codec that appears to be beneficial, but is actually infected. Once TotalVirusProtection has attached itself, it will bombard the screen with false security warnings designed to frighten the user into purchasing the fraudulent software from their website.

Unfortunately once Total Virus Protection has attached itself to a system it is nearly impossible to remove. Efforts at manual removal often result in lost data. Extreme cases may require a hard drive to be completely wiped clean in order to totally remove TotalVirusProtection. Clearly, these manual efforts are both time consuming and costly.

The most effective way to rid a system of Total Virus Protection is by using a high quality, reputable anti-spyware program. Anti-spyware programs will scan the system, identify spyware and remove it.
